Adele Ohki Adele Ohki, violin
Adele Ohki is an accomplished violinist with a broad and diverse musical career. After spending 25 years in the United States, she has recently returned to Australia. Born and raised in Canberra, Adele grew up in a musically enriched environment, beginning her violin studies at the Canberra School of Music with Vincent Edwards.
Throughout her childhood, Adele earned numerous scholarships and awards, leading her to further her studies in the United States under Charles Castleman at the Eastman School of Music. She holds master’s degrees in both modern and baroque violin performance from Northwestern University and Boston University. As a soloist, she has performed in masterclasses and concerts at the Australian National Academy of Music in Melbourne, working closely with Alice Waten, James Buswell and Wanda Wilkomirska. Adele has developed a successful freelance career, performing with prestigious ensembles in Australia and worldwide, including the Boston Opera and Ballet orchestras, the Portland Symphony, and the Vermont Symphony, the National Symphony Orchestra and Goteborg Opera orchestras in Sweden, and more recently in the Australian Opera and Australian Haydn orchestras.
Adele is deeply committed to music education and has worked as a visiting artist and mentor at the El Sistema program at the Boston Conservatory Lab Charter School, and as an adjudicator for the Sydney Eisteddfod. She currently serves as the Head of Strings at Newington College, where she continues to inspire and shape young musicians.
Jacqui Cronin Jacqui Cronin, viola
Violist, Jacqui Cronin, has performed widely throughout Australia with numerous ensembles and orchestras, including the Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Tasmanian Symphony Orchestras, Australian Chamber Orchestra, Opera Australia Orchestra and Orchestra Victoria. Most recently she has appeared as Guest Associate Principal Viola of the Opera Australia Orchestra and Principal Viola of Adelaide Symphony Orchestra. Jacqui is also an active chamber musician, performing regularly in festivals across Australia and overseas with various ensembles including the Sonus Piano Quartet and the Seraphim Trio.
Bradley Gilchrist Bradley Gilchrist, piano
Bradley Gilchrist is a highly accomplished pianist and accompanist based in Sydney, Australia. Bradley completed his Bachelor of Music at the Western Australian Conservatorium of Music. He pursued further studies in piano accompaniment and performance in Sydney and Madrid.
Bradley has performed as a concerto soloist with several prestigious orchestras, including the Western Australian Symphony Orchestra, the Slovakia Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Odessa Philharmonic Orchestra. Notable performances include the Khachaturian Concerto, the Grieg Concerto, and Beethoven’s First and Second Concertos.
Bradley has broadcast for the ABC Young Australia program, ABC Classic FM, Radio National, and Fine Music FM.
Paul Stender Paul Stender, cello
Paul Stender is a distinguished cellist, known for his role as the principal cellist of the Omega Ensemble, one of Australia’s leading chamber music groups.
Paul has been a key member of the Omega Ensemble for over a decade, contributing to their dynamic and innovative performances. He is celebrated for his technical skill and expressive playing, particularly in works by J.S. Bach and contemporary composers.
The Omega Ensemble is known for its commitment to both classical and contemporary music, often commissioning new works and collaborating with composers. Paul’s role in the ensemble has been pivotal in their success and reputation.
